"Have a Happy Day" card workshop

Welcome to my first card class! Yay!! For this class you will be making 10 FUN, everyday cards (2 of each design), featuring the "Have a Happy Day" stamp set. This stamp set is perfect for new or seasoned card makers as it has 7 different sentiments, offering the ability to create a wonderful assortment of everyday cards!
In this class you will learn basic stamping techniques. You will be introduced to our fabulous embossing folders, and you will learn how to create depth and dimension using 3-D foam tape.

Here are the cards you will be making...

I have put together a variety of kits for you to choose from. The basic kit comes with all the items necessary to complete 5 sets of cards using my inks and stamp set. The largest kit contains the entire kit and caboodle, including all the inks that I used for the project! Regardless of the kit you choose, you will complete all the cards! We will do all the stamping and technique work at the beginning of class. You will then be able to assemble the cards at your leisure following the photo provided.

I am currently offering this class in my studio on Tuesday, October 14th at 11AM and Wednesday, October 15th at 6PM. Space is limited, so you must register! It's official! Labor Day marks the end of summer. The kids are heading back to school, Homecoming, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner! What!!! It's OK...just breathe! And be sure to pencil some time in for yourself on the family calendar!

PRODUCT CLUB

I have a couple of girls that are interested in joining the product club. I am looking for 4 more interested parties to complete this club! If we fill the club soon we can start in September, if not, we will try and do October thru March. As a club member, you commit to purchasing a minimum of $30 in product for 6 months. In turn, each club member acts as a hostess for the club. you are guaranteed a minimum of $25 in hostess rewards, with the opportunity to earn much more. The club is done completely on line! FALL RETREAT

There are still spots available at the FALL retreat at SKY LAKE Nov. 20-23. You are welcome to stay 1,2 or all 3 nights! The choice is yours! Scrapbook Friends Project Kits

I am trying something new Scrapbook Friends!! Each month I am going to be creating a series of layouts or projects using the fabulous Workshops on the Go or paper packs offered in the new Annual Inspirations book. For each series, I will create and assemble pre-cut kits. I will be using the kit that contains all of the items, however, you will have the option to purchase the kit that suits your budget. Regardless of the kit you choose, you will be able to create and complete beautiful artwork. If you would like all the "bells and whistles" offered in my project, I will recommend you purchase the complete project kit.
I will be offering the class at the monthly workshop as well as offering two dates in my crop room at home. Should you have a group that would like to do the class at an alternate location (your home), I will be more than happy to accommodate your group!!

Every month you have the opportunity to choose your kit! Whether you choose the basic kit or order the largest available, your pages will be beautiful!

• You will place your order for your kit one month in advance.
• Ordering your kit one month in advance allows you the freedom to get exactly what you want each month without being committed to one type of kit.
• The kit you order will count towards a Stamp of the Month purchase or Monthly Special (before tax and shipping).
• My pages will always be Kit #4 using not only the Workshop on the Go stamp set, (or coordinating stamp set) but other stamps that match the paper packet.  This will give you the opportunity to try a lot of different product            

Now, let me share the OCTOBER class kit featuring the SCAREDY CAT paper, compliments and assortments.

During this class you will create all 3 of these fabulous Halloween themed 2-page layouts. At the beginning of class, you will complete all stamping and technique work. You will then be able to complete the layouts using the photos provided with your kit. 

This class will be offered at the Scrapbook Friends monthly workshop on October 11th. I will also offer the class in my crop room on Tuesday, October 7th and Wednesday, October 8th at 6PM.

Creating Watercolor Backgrounds Using Your Clear Block

Here is a great video demonstrating the technique to create a beautiful watercolor background using your acrylic blocks. This video demonstrates using markers, but you will get the same effect using your ink pads!

Create Beautiful Backgrounds with Acrylic Blocks

Today, Zoe, Violet and myself spent this cold, wet afternoon playing with stamps! We decided to play with a technique called Clear Block Stamping. With this technique you can create beautiful watercolor backgrounds using your acrylic block as a stamp. You can use a single color to create a simple background or use multiple colors to create a blended, watercolor effect. You can use your ink pads or your markers for color.

I had never used this technique, but I have to tell you, it was SO easy! And fun!! The possibilities are endless!!

Here are a few samples that I created.

For this sample, I applied cashmere ink directly to my block and stamped onto a piece of colonial white card stock. After cleaning the block, I mounted my acrylic stamp to the block and using chocolate ink I stamped the image directly onto my background. I used olive ink to stamp my sentiment and viola! Very simple and very beautiful!

For this piece, I used the same technique with canary, sky and cotton candy ink. I began with the lightest color, canary, applying ink directly to the block and stamping. I cleaned the block and repeated using sky and then cotton candy, slightly overlapping at the corners. I then used Thistle ink for my butterfly and sentiment. 

For this little gem, I used canary, goldrush, and cranberry ink. I inked one half with canary and the other half with goldrush. Then using a piece of sponge, I added a touch of cranberry ink and stamped the block onto a piece of colonial white card stock. I then inked my leaf in olive, rolled the edges in chocolate and stamped onto my newly created background. I then stamped my sentiment on a small strip of colonial white, inked my edges in cranberry and using 3D tape, adhered it to my piece. 

These two little gems were done slightly different. I used my ShinHan markers to color the blocks beginning with the lightest color, tender pink, then adding turquoise blue and peony purple (slightly overlapping the colors) . Once colored, I stamped the block onto my card stock. You must clean the block immediately after stamping when using these markers! You do not want any residual ink to dry onto your block! 

In the bottom sample, I sprinkled a bit of water onto my block before stamping. Thus, the slightly different effect. 

For this sample, I used canary, sky and cotton candy inks. I inked up my block and instead of stamping, I decided to swipe (slide) the block along the paper. I started with canary, and then sky, finishing with cotton candy. I slightly overlapped each color. 

And Zoe, became a master! It was a great afternoon spent with my little loves, simply playing with blocks, inks and markers.
